Stage 2 cancer of the breast varies into 2 types, which are stage IIA and stage IIB respectively. The 5 year breast cancer survival rate for stage 2 breast carcinoma varies depending on the size of the tumor and whether or not the malignant cells have spread towards the lymph nodes of the breast.

If the tumor in the breast is smaller than 2 centimeters but have affected the auxiliary lymph nodes (the lymph nodes under the arm) it s still considered to be stage 2 breast carcinoma.The 5 year survival rate of this type of cancer is at 88 to 89 percent chance of occur.

When the tumor in the breast is between 2 to 5 centimeters but has not spread towards the lymph nodes; it is to be considered to be stage 2A cancer of the breast.

Meanwhile, when the tumor in the breast is between 2 to 5 centimeters and has spread towards the auxiliary lymph nodes; it is considered to be stage 2 – B cancer of the breast. Breast cancer survival rates for this type are at 76 to 81 percent chance of survival.

Stage 2 Breast Cancer

If the tumor is larger than 5 centimeters but is still confined or hasn’t grown enough to affect other tissues besides the breast; this is still considered to be at stage 2 – B breast carcinoma.

In the United States alone 29% of diagnosed cancer of the breast among white women is still at stage 2 breast carcinoma while a much large 36 percent is for black women.

In an average of 62 percent, most breast tumor patients are still at the initial or localized stage. This stage is much commonly known as stage 1 breast cancer. The 5 – year breast cancer survival rate for stage 1 can go as high as 98 to 100 percent cure possibilities.

Like any other cancer types, early detection is the key to have an excellent survival rate, most especially if we are talking about breast carcinoma. If the breast tumor grows enough to affect other tissues or organs in the body, there will be a huge drop in the breast cancer survival rate of the patient.

Women are fortunate that government and private institutions have given great effort in order to provide a better way of detecting and treating this life threatening disease. The only possible threat to women who wish to be cured is the inability to take the procedures in a constant basis.
